PS4 Battlefront ad appeals to anyone who's ever imagined attacking an At-At
As the premiere of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens rapidly approaches, so, too do the countless tie-ins and cross-promotions.
What separates PlayStation from the parade of merchandising is that it offers consumers a chance to be a part of the action – in video game form, at least.
This spot from BBH New York for PlayStation’s Star Wars Battlefront series does a solid job of communicating that sense of adventure. A frustrated office worker gazes upon his childhood R2D2, remembering the fun he had acting out the movie with a childhood friend.
It’s pretty tame stuff until the friend makes a surprise appearance in the present. Cue the John Williams score, and try not to smile.
A 30-second version of the ad will appear online and on TV. The PS4 Battlefront title and other limited edition Star Wars bundles are set to launch 17 November.
