World's first treehouse on a crane to debut in Bristol

Bristol's Harbourside: welcoming treehouse

Outdoor holiday specialist Canopy & Stars is opening the world's first treehouse on a crane on Bristol's Harbourside.

The experience, Canopy & Stars at Crane 29, which launches today (30 May), is being supported by sustainable buidling materials from B&Q and has been devised together with Wonderland Communications. It took three years to design and plan, and three weeks to build. It will welcome more than 200 guests over the course of its installation.

The low-impact, zero-carbon build was completed with sustainable materials, smart space-saving solutions and even pollinating plants on the roof to attract the local urban wildlife. The space aims to reflect how industrial meets natural, creating a sensory bubble of nature hanging high above the city. All profits from the project will go to Friends of the Earth.

Canopy & Stars at Crane 29 will disappear without a trace at the end of September.

More: Earlier this year, travel resource website TripAdvisor Rentals launched a competition allowing the winner and their guest to spend a night in a London Eye capsule. Dutch Vodka brand Ketel One took over an offshore platform 22 metres up in the air to create the world's first Ketel One Huis, and is inviting guests to stay there for the night.
