Wieden + Kennedy gears up Nike in 'Short a Guy'

Sports wunderkind is taken through a maze of athleticism

Being a gifted athlete in every sport is tough, as one kid learns in an ad for Nike by longtime agency of record Wieden + Kennedy Portland.

Throughout the narrative, the young man is asked to play various sports — ranging from basketball to sumo — as athletes are "short a guy." Along the way, he meets some stars such as soccer player Mia Hamm and Mike Trout.

The ad is part of Nike's Gear Up initiative which stresses getting all the gear you need to be your best in any sport. While no one has the skills to play both beach volleyball and sumo, the right gear can enhance any athlete's game.
