LONDON - Visit Wales has appointed iCrossing to handle its £1.2m digital business following a competitive pitch.

The agency will be responsible for handling paid search, SEO and social media activity. It will work alongside Visit Wales' creative agencies Kitcatt Nohr Alexander Shaw and Wieden & Kennedy.

The appointment follows Visit Wales' development of a new strategy integrating its online and offline activity more effectively. The online work will support the board's current TV campaign featuring Welsh TV comedian, Rhod Gilbert.

Work for Visit Wales will begin in June as the tourist board looks to raise awareness of Wales as a key destination for the summer. The campaigns will focus on key attractions in Wales, such as the smallest city in the UK, St David's, as well as Wales' highest mountain Snowdonia.

In March, Visit Wales appointed Kitcatt Nohr to its direct marketing account after the tourist board parted way with Partners Andrews Aldridge after six years.
