The agency's first work for the PayPal subsidiary gets awkward, on purpose
Micropayments app Venmo has enlisted the deadpan awkwardness of YouTube unboxer Brad Hall to tout its new purchasing capabilities. Previously, the PayPal-owned service primarily facilitated monetary exchanges between friends, but it can now be used to pay vendors directly. CP+B, the agency of record for PayPal, created the video. The two-and-a-half minute "review," starring and directed by Hall features a self-conscious catalogue of the app’s advantages that mirrors his usual footwear reviews, including the slow parade of long pauses and incongruities favored by his heavily Millennial audience.
