The car brand has appointed Simon Oldfield as its new sales and marketing director as Peter Hope moves to customer experience and corporate strategy director.

Oldfield joins Vauxhall from Mercedes Benz where he was most recently managing director, customer service. He will report directly into chairman and managing director, Tim Tozer.

His appointment, effective March 1st, comes as former marketing director Peter Hope moves to head up customer experience in the company. Hope had held the role since 2010, when he replaced Andy Gilson and took up the new role in October.

Chris Hawkin was also appointed director of brand in December as the company looked to bolster its marketing department. He had held roles at auto brands including Hyundai, Renault, Audi, Volkswagen and Skoda.

Oldfield was formerly sales director and marketing director at Mercedes and held marketing manager roles at BMW.

"Simon joins Vauxhall at an exciting period in the company’s history", said Tim Tozer.

"New product introductions are creating significant sales opportunities for the Vauxhall business, with more to come this year in new Corsa, VIVA and Astra and we are embarking upon a brand journey.

"Simon’s background and experience will bring new momentum and perspective to the business in the newly created role of sales and marketing director, a role pivotal to the success of Vauxhall’s future journey.’
