IPG Mediabrands’ UM has promoted chief client officer Erin Quintana to U.S. CEO to take over from Joe DeMiero, who has taken a leave of absence.
DeMiero was hired into the role in January 2022 following a nine-year stint at Publicis Groupe, most recently as CEO of CRM and digital agency Hawkeye.
In May, DeMiero reorganized UM’s U.S. leadership team around specialist leaders rather than geographies, which included handing Quintana a new role as chief client officer.
Now Quintana takes over responsibility for the strategy, direction and operations of UM’s largest market.
She will report to UM global CEO Andrea Suarez.
In a press release, Suarez called Quintana an “inspirational and empathetic leader.”
“Erin’s deep understanding of the media landscape is only rivaled by her infectious energy and dedication to our business and community. I look forward to UM U.S.’ future growth and transformation under her leadership,” Suarez said.
Quintana has worked at UM for more than 15 years, leading some of the agency’s largest accounts including American Express and Johnson & Johnson.
She recently led UM’s successful pitch for the global General Mills business.
In 2017, she was inducted into the AAF Advertising Hall of Achievement.
“I am thrilled at the opportunity to lead UM U.S. after spending more than half of my career within this incredibly special community and experiencing so many different parts of the business,” Quintana said in a press release. “We have strong momentum at our backs that I am excited to accelerate in 2024 through a focus on growth for our clients, our community and our industry.”
