The Toy Retailers Association (TRA) is predicting that parents will be able to keep seasonal spending low this year, with all of its ‘Dream Toys' on this year's list costing less than £50.
Brands from films and children's programmes are expected to be popular, with Ben 10 Alien Force Kevin's DX Action Cruiser making the list. Transformers Movie 2 Voyagers figures are also set to be big sellers, along with Princess Peppa's Palace toys.
Some classic brands are also expected to do well, incuding the Sylvanian Families Caravan and the Monopoly City game.
Gary Grant, chairman of the TRA, said: ‘The top 72 toys really demonstrate how forward-thinking the toy industry is. This year's list also reveals a trend toward nostalgic characters and brands that have been updated with a modern twist. Consumers are reverting to heritage brands, which will last longer than the Christmas season.'
Topping the list of toys expected to be popular with girls were Pony In My Pocket, Sally Doll, Barbie and The Sylvanian Families Pleasure Boat and Caravan.
Boys are expected to be asking for GX Racers Tightrope Terror, Star Wars and Transformers figures and the i-Bladez Flightstick and Salvation 3D Helicopter.
