Tim Lindsay: takes the reins at D&AD

Former TBWA UK president and Publicis chairman Tim Lindsay has been appointed as chief executive of D&AD and will join the charity in August.

Lindsay will work alongside incumbent D&AD chief Tim O'Kennedy during a handover period, before being officially handed the reins at the annual D&AD President's Dinner on 21 September.

O'Kennedy is leaving the charity after two years, during which time he has instigated changes and bolstered submissions and memberships. He said that he is leaving D&AD to support his partner and children as they relocate from the Netherlands to his native Ireland.

Dick Powell, D&AD's chairman, said: "We feel extremely fortunate to have secured Tim Lindsay to take on the CEO role. He is a perfect fit with D&AD and, more important, with what we want to do in the future."

Lindsay said: "I feel extremely fortunate to be chosen by D&AD as its next CEO, particularly as Tim O'Kennedy and his team have done so much great work over the last couple of years. It's a dream job in a wonderful organisation."

Lindsay has occupied a number of senior agency roles during his career. He left TBWA suddenly in November 2009, and has also served as president of Lowe Worldwide and managing director of Y&R London. In May 2010, Lindsay joined Media Square as a non-executive director.
