Baller Kevin Durant has brain freeze for drive-in's slushies
NBA player Kevin Durant is back for Sonic, this time in a parody of self-important sports advertising.
The spot, by Goodby Silverstein & Partners, features the Oklahoma City Thunder player in high-key black and white delivering an internal monologue. It begins the way most ads for sports drinks or sports products do, with the athlete earnestly professing his dedication to the sport and the task at hand.
But thoughts of Sonic's Slushes lead Durant astray, and soon he's spinning a desultory ode to flavors like Nerds and Jolly Ranchers ("Guess if I lived in a ranch, I'd be jolly, too.") Ultimately, his love for slushies cost him his shot.
