Simon Davis takes step up to become Walker Media MD

Walker Media has appointed Simon Davis as the managing director in its first senior management change since Christine Walker, the founder, left the company in July.

Davis, who was previously a managing partner at the agency, has been promoted to the role by the chief executive, Phil Georgiadis. The position has been vacant for three years, ever since Georgiadis took the step up to take on the chief executive position.

Georgiadis said: "Simon will continue to service the needs of his clients, but I felt that we needed some extra focus on the commercial aspects of Walker Media as a business."

Davis joined Walker Media in July 2006, having previously been the vice-president for sales and marketing at CNBC in New York.

Before working at CNBC, Davis held senior sales positions at UK media owners including Express Newspapers and Scotsman Publications.

Walker left the agency in the summer, having run the business for ten years alongside Georgiadis.

Walker Media is now a top-ten media agency, which has billings in excess of £300 million.
