Last Sunday, families gathered together to praise mothers. The brands that saw the most Facebook shares last week did the same. BarkBox crafted a music video for all the dog moms out there, and Wienerschnitzel promoted a day of free food for moms.
Unmetric, a social-media intelligence firm, uses an analytics platform to track brands with the highest amount of engagement for posts.
These are the brand posts that received the most shares of last week:
In a Facebook video post that generated 557,290 shares, two BarkBox creatives—T-Spoon and ZZ Tophalf—rap about what it means to be a dog mom for Mother’s Day. "If you’re a dog mom, put your hands up," rap the duo. "This songs for all the ladies who provide for their pup. When you’re a dog mom it’s just what you do. Cause they say you’re not my baby, but I know it ain’t true."
BarkBox created the music video in-house, and so far, it has also seen 25 million views, 139,000 reactions and 135,000 comments. The video made it onto our list of the five most creative Mother’s Day ads of 2017.
Reese’s is mixing it up and blending cookies in with its peanut butter cups. In a Facebook post that received 34,422 shares, the brand announced the news with a photo of its new "Crunchy Cookie Big Cup." The posts also saw 98,000 reactions and 22,000 comments in which people praised the move and ask when they were coming to stores. Last week Marvel’s "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" opened to rave reviews. In fact, Rotten Tomatoes rated it fresh with 81 percent. To promote the film, Fandango created a meme on Facebook featuring the movie’s star Chris Pratt and an allusion to The Blue Swede’s version of "Hooked on a Feeling," a song that was used in trailers for the film. "I’m not always hooked on a feeling, but when I am, I’m high on believing," reads the meme. The post generated 20,332 shares, 15,000 reactions and 690 comments.
Along with the lead up to Mother’s Day, last week was National Nurses Week. Hallmark shared some gratitude with the "heroes of healthcare" in a Facebook post that received 18,934 shares. A colorful meme reads: "A nurse is basically a superhero in scrubs." The post also saw 11,000 reactions and 697 comments.
Like BarkBox, Wienerschnitzel also celebrated Mother’s Day. In a Facebook post that garnered 19,737 shares, the fast food brand told moms they could eat free on May 14 with proof of "mom-bership." Moms could bring in a family photo, tell an embarrassing story about their kids or bring their children in as proof to receive free chili dogs, fries and sodas. The post also saw 10,000 reactions and 3,000 comments.
