How seven brands threw virtual confetti on the US women's soccer team

As the country turned out to celebrate its championship, sponsors and others joined the party

Brands such as Coca-Cola, Lyft and Scholastic cheered on the US women's national soccer team on social media on Friday morning.

For the first time, a women’s sports team has been honored with a ticker-tape parade in New York City, after the US women’s national soccer team bested Japan 5-2 on Sunday night, winning the 2015 Women’s World Cup.

The team’s sponsors include Coca-Cola, the New York Red Bulls, Nike, Powerade, Ritz Crackers, and Trident Gum. But other brands and organizations applauded the team vial real-time marketing tweets.

The hashtag #USWNTParade was the top trend on Twitter on Friday morning.
