Pest control company Rentokil is to open a pop-up restaurant in London on Thursday (21 August) specialising in edible insects.

Hosted at One New Change, the Pestaurant will serve exotic dishes made with unusual ingredients, including salt and vinegar crickets, Mexican spice mealworms, roasted locusts and scorpion lollipops. As a more filling option, sweet chilli pigeon burgers will be on the menu.

A mystery celebrity baker has been commissioned to create a limited number of ‘bug bakes’, which will also be available to try.

Rentokil experts will be on hand to discuss the free food with visitors, as well as to answer any pest-related questions guests may have.

The restaurant, which has been produced by agency Brands2Life, will be open for entomophagy, or insect-eating, enthusiasts from 11am until 3pm.

A similar event was hosted last year and saw more than 3,000 people visit the Pestaurant, which has also toured Washington DC, Cape Town, Sydney, Dubai and Paris.
