Renault revives Gordini sports car marque

LONDON - Renault has unveiled plans to revive its Gordini sports car brand for high-performance versions of its Twingo and Clio models.

Named after the Renault mechanic Amédée Gordini, the iconic R8 Gordini was famous for its blue body paint and two white stripes.

The car was successful in the Tour of Corsica rally during the 1960s, and appeared in a number of films alongside actors such as Lino Ventura.

Twingo Gordini will be unveiled on 25 November on the Champs Elysées in Paris as part of the ‘Christmas in Blue' exhibition, and will launch next spring. Clio Gordini will be rolled out a few months later.
