The Red Cross sends haunting holiday greetings from Syria

Dean Martin sings an incongruous but fitting tune while bombs fall from the sky.

While much of the world is in a holiday lull, the fighting in Syria hasn’t stopped, and neither have Red Cross aid workers. Belgian ad agency Duval Guillaume has created a disquieting spot that sets scenes of real-life violence against disturbingly appropriate lyrics from Dean Martin’s 1959 rendition of "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" Viewers are then directed to a donation page for the Red Cross Flanders in Belgium. Over the past six years, more than 50 Red Cross personnel have been killed in Syria, and the organization has helped more than 4.5 million people there, including 35,000 evacuated from eastern Aleppo earlier this month.
