Teams will have to trade cans of Red Bull to survive for one week in Europe

Red Bull has launched a competition that will see 165 teams from over the globe make their way across Europe using only cans of the drink as currency.

The Can You Make It? challenge is currently recruiting teams. On 12 April, these groups will be allocated one of five starting points from Barcelona, Florence, Berlin, Edinburgh or Prague.

Each competitor will hand over their possessions, including cash and cards, and be given an endpoint to reach at the end of the week. They will be provided with a stash of Red Bull, which they can use to barter for food, transportation and accommodation.

Teams will create their own route through the continent by visiting specific city checkpoints, where they will also be tasked with completing ‘Body and mind’ challenges and be able to collect more cans of the energy drink. They will also be challenged to complete as many tasks on an Adventure List as possible, and post photos and videos to social media.

The groups’ final scores will be based on checkpoint challenges, Adventure List tasks and how much following they receive on social media. The winners will win the ‘ultimate European summer adventure’ in association with Contiki Travel.

A total of 10 teams will be sent on the challenge from the UK. Contiki Travel will also field its own special team in order to create content for its website.
