Reading and Leeds launch festival apprenticeships

Reading and Leeds promoter Festival Republic is inviting festivalgoers behind the scenes this year in new apprenticeship and internship placements.

It has created two year-long apprenticeships and ten internships for up to three weeks, for ticket holders aged 18 – 25.

Apprentices could gain experience in areas from production and artist liaison to marketing, ticketing and sustainability. Placements include on-site work at Reading and Leeds as well as work in London with associated companies such as Scream PR and Hall or Nothing who provide PR to the festivals.

Festival Repbulic said it introduced the scheme to allow young people to enhance their skills in the music and events industry in difficult economic times.

Basic expenses will be paid and details of how to apply will soon be posted on the Reading and Leeds websites.
