Pitch Update: Centrica holds tissues, Group M and Dentsu Aegis battle for L'Oreal

Vodafone, Eurostar, Virgin Experience Days and Bupa have called reviews.

WPP’s Group M and Dentsu Aegis Network are battling it out for L’Oréal’s £106m UK and Ireland media planning and buying account. The global beauty company has reduced its shortlist from four to two, with Publicis Media and independent shop the7stars out of the running. Wavemaker, part of Group M, is the incumbent.

Tissue meetings for Centrica’s integrated pitch took place last Friday (5 April). A team involving the incumbent advertising and media agencies, The & Partnership and MediaCom, along with Wunderman Thompson, is competing against a McCann Worldgroup-led team and another from Publicis Groupe.

Vodafone has called an estimated £400m global media planning and buying review, less than a year after bringing its biddable media in-house. Wavemaker, the incumbent, has been invited to pitch.

Eurostar, the high-speed rail service, is reviewing its global media business. The incumbent is iProspect, which is repitching. The brand is working with ID Comms on the process.

Virgin Experience Days, the gifting site, is on the hunt for a creative and media agency in the UK as it plans a campaign with TV as a core focus. There is no incumbent on the business. The brand is working with Creativebrief on the pitch.

Bupa is seeking a creative shop to work on a marketing project that will run alongside the healthcare group's main advertising. The pitch, which is understood to not affect Engine's 20-year relationship with the brand, is being managed by ISBA and Bupa head of marketing strategy and planning Angelique Waker. Engine has handled Bupa since 1999, having won the business from Ogilvy.

Adam & Eve/DDB has picked up the Save the Children International account without a pitch to create its 150th-anniversary campaign this year. The charity had previously appointed Mother to handle the work but that relationship has come to an end. Adam & Eve/DDB also works with the charity in the UK.

Bountiful Cow has been appointed to the media and buying account of food business Mizkan after a five-way pitch that also included the incumbent, UM. The business has a media spend of £2.8m. Mizkan’s brands include Branston pickle, Sarson’s vinegar and Haywards pickled onions.

Total Media has won the £3m media account for pet-food brand Freshpet in the UK, following a competitive three-way pitch. The incumbent was Media Campaign.

AKA Scotland has been appointed by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland to oversee the media planning and media buying activities for its Edinburgh Zoo and Highland Wildlife Park sites. The agency emerged victorious in a three way pitch against The Lane and Space & Time, which were the incumbents on Edinburgh Zoo and Highland Wildlife Park respectively.

Leagas Delaney has won the MSC Cruises’ global advertising account after a competitive pitch process.
