Around 180 guests attended the fourth Manchester Live! destination showcase at Bafta 195 Piccadilly last night (10 July), which included a live performance from soprano singer Lesley Garrett.

The event provided networking opportunities with more than 35 venues from across the Greater Manchester region. It also formed as one of the official evening functions for this year’s inaugural Meetings Show UK, which has taken place at Olympia this week (9-11 July).

Among the exhibitors were Emirates Old Trafford, The Lowry, Manchester City Football Club, The Monastery and Manchester Central.

Guests were treated to an intimate live performance from Lesley Garrett to round off the evening, who sung I Dreamed a Dream from the musical Les Miserables, and What a Wonderful World, made famous by American singer Louis Armstrong.

Paul Simpson, managing director of Visit Manchester, said: "Manchester Live! is our flagship business tourism event and an excellent platform for us to reinforce the city’s position as the home of great conferences and meetings.

"Last night we brought some of our best venues and service providers together under one roof to promote and strengthen Manchester’s thriving business tourism offer, which is currently worth over £822m to the local economy."
