Industry comings and goings include JWT, Y&R, 72andSunny, GS&P, and Guardian News & Media

J Walter Thompson has hired Lyle Tick, the vice-president of North American vodkas at Bacardi, for the new role of chief growth officer in its New York office.

Y&R has named John Fraser president of its Chicago agency, replacing Kary McIlwain, who is moving into the role of non-executive chairman.

72andSunny announced that it has opened a new Brand Citizenship practice to help brands make doing good a central part of their marketing. The practice is led by Jim Moriarty, who joins 72andSunny after 10 years as CEO of the Surfrider Foundation, the largest nonprofit devoted to coastal protection.

Goodby Silverstein & Partners named Eric Kallman executive creative director, joining ecd Margaret Johnson in running the San Francisco office's creative department.

Y&R has promoted Alex Hughes to the role of global CMO. Hughes, has spent nearly 27 years with the Y&R/Wunderman, most recently as general manager of its European operations.


Katharine Viner, deputy editor of the Guardian since 2008 and, since summer 2014, editor-in-chief of Guardian US, has today been named the first female editor-in-chief of Guardian News & Media in its 194 year history.

Wunderman has appointed Chris Perry, the joint chief executive at sister shop Fabric and a former joint chief executive at Razorfish, as its new UK chief executive, succeeding Mel Edwards.

Grey London has promoted its head of planning, Leo Rayman, to chief strategy officer, replacing Lucy Jameson.

John Woodward, who has been global planning director for Publicis Worldwide for more than seven years, will be taking up the post of chief strategy officer for McCann Erickson Japan and McCann Worldgroup Japan on April 1.  

Paolo Mercado has moved to the Philippines after working for almost four years as Nestlé’s head of marketing and consumer communication for the Greater China region.He is now SVP of communication and marketing services at Nestlé Philippines.

Mindshare has announced that Ravi Rao, former CEO, Mindshare South Asia, will be taking over as chief client officer, Mindshare MENA. Rao’s new role will be effective May 2015 and he will be based in Dubai.

Razorfish India has appointed Arnab Majumdar as director, business development. Based in Mumbai, he will be responsible for "leading business acquisitions and establish new business operations models" across the agency’s offices in India.
