OK, Gogglebox: Google Home teams up with Channel 4 show for ad break takeover

Google Home will air an ad on Channel 4 tonight featuring the cast of Gogglebox experimenting with the voice-control device.

The two-minute spot will fill a whole ad break of Gogglebox at 9.10pm.

It depicts the families featured on the show asking Google Assistant for directions to Chester Zoo, facts about baby giraffes, jokes and recipe suggestions.

The partnership was brokered by 4Sales and Google’s media agency OMD, while Studio Lambert handled production.

Graham Bednash, consumer marketing director at Google, said: "This partnership with such a well-loved show as Gogglebox, is the perfect way to show how real families find Google Home helpful in their day-to-day lives."

Additional 10- and 20-second versions of the full ad will air across Channel 4 from the launch until mid-December.

Chris Braithwaite, agency principal at Channel 4, added: "This collaboration is a great example of how clients are using our hugely popular talent and programme brands to create entertaining ad campaigns that the Channel 4 audience will instantly engage with."
