OgilvyOne regains British Airways social account

British Airways is understood to have appointed OgilvyOne to its UK social media account, 17 months after moving its global digital business out of the WPP agency and into SapientNitro.

Campaign revealed in February that BA had shifted its UK social media from SapientNitro to its retained content marketing shop Cedar. At the time, a BA spokeswoman said: "Where we need to, we will flex the work our retained agencies look after."

OgilvyOne has now rejoined BA’s roster and taken over social media duties. Cedar will continue with its other  responsibilities, including publishing BA’s magazine High Life

The win is a coup for OgilvyOne, which had previously handled both the customer loyalty and digital creative accounts. The shop lost the customer loyalty business to Bartle Bogle Hegarty in 2014 after a review.

SapientNitro continues to work with BA on creative technology.
