Remember when Warner Bros. recreated the "Friends" coffee shop in honor of the show’s 20th anniversary in 2014? Netflix is doing the same thing—except with the show "Gilmore Girls."
In honor of the show’s 16th anniversary, the streaming service is transforming 200 coffee shops around the United States and Canada into the show’s memorable "Luke’s Diner."
On October 5, "Gilmore Girls" fans can visit recreations of the Stars Hollow eatery and retrace those mother-daughter tête-à-têtes between Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham). Called "Luke’s Coffee Day," the themed diners will be open in select cities from 7 am to 12 pm.
During the all-day event, Netflix will be handing out 250 cups of free coffee and visitors will be able to purchase branded aprons and T-shirts.
The activation is promoting Netflix’s upcoming reboot of the popular ‘90s show. "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" is a four-part series premiering on Netflix on November 25. Netflix released the first trailer for the show at the end of July.
The "Gilmore Girls" is the latest nostalgic reboot Netflix has released this year. Most recently, the service revived "Arrested Development," "Wet Hot American Summer" and transitioned "Full House" into "Fuller House."
Online, "Gilmore Girls" memes and GIFs have already began to spread.
