Bozoma Saint John has quit her job as chief brand officer at Uber just one year after joining the embattled ride-hailing app. Saint John, who has held a series of high-profile marketing positions at PepsiCo, Beats and Apple Music, takes the role of chief marketing officer at talent agency Endeavor.
Zoe Harris, group marketing director at Reach (formerly Trinity Mirror), is set to join price comparison site GoCompare Group as chief marketing officer later this year. As well as GoCompare, she will be responsible for discount code site MyVoucherCodes. Since 2013, Harris has led marketing at the newspaper publisher. She has broad experience of the UK media industry, having previously worked at The Guardian, ITV, NBC, Hearst, MTV and Channel 5, before joining WCRS as strategy director in 2011. Harris will replace Richard Harris, who is leaving Go Compare at the end of this month.
Comparethemarket.com has appointed Liz Darran, currently UK marketing director at Intuit, to the new role of marketing director. Darran has been in her role at the business software company since last July. Before that she spent five years at Sky, as director of brand and creative and then director of brand marketing for Sky Spain. Before this she was at the Engine Group from 2007 to 2012, where she was client managing director for Sky, then a managing partner at WCRS. Darran will start work at the price comparison site this month and report to chief marketing officer Mark Vile.
Russell Ramsey, the former executive creative director at J Walter Thompson, has been drafted in by Crispin Porter & Bogusky following the departure of chief creative officer Dan Watts after just six months in the role. Watts, who joined from 4Creative, replaced David Buonaguidi who left last April to pursue his own venture. Buonaguidi had been in the role less than two years. Ramsey has been appointed on an interim basis.
Director Ridley Scott has brought together all the companies in his RSA Films production network to form the new Ridley Scott Creative Group. The restructure will combine RSA and its affiliated businesses across film, TV, branded entertainment, advertising, virtual reality, music videos, photography, design and animation into one global group. Director Luke Scott, who is the founder’s son, will serve as global chief executive of the consolidated group. He will work with his father as well as partners Jake and Jordan Scott, who are also related.
R/GA London has hired Iain Preston as executive director client services for EMEA. Preston joins from Publicis Groupe, where he held the role of global client leader. He reports to Matt Lodder, executive vice-president and managing director, R/GA EMEA.
Former Sainsbury’s head of broadcast Sarah Kilmartin has joined start-up Hiyacar as its chief marketing officer. She joins Hiyacar following a seven-year tenure with the supermarket where she led the Christmas campaigns including "Mog's Christmas Calamity" and launched the "Food Dancing" work in 2017.
Spark44 has made three hirings. Kate Waugh, previously a global lead on Philips at Ogilvy, joins as global business director for Land Rover; Jon Busk takes the role of global business director for Jaguar following stints at Leo Burnett, 18 Feet & Rising and DDB London where he worked across Volkswagen for nine years and Moray McLaren becomes business director with a focus on Jaguar and Land Rover’s editorial channels, joining from content producer Firecracker where he was managing partner and business development director.
Dare, part of the Inside Ideas Group, has appointed Ben Long as its creative director. Long joins Dare after a seven-year tenure as digital creative director at WCRS. He brings with him almost twenty years’ experience, covering digital, creative, design, social content, integrated marketing and advertising, having started out as a digital designer for the Financial Times.
