Madden 16 kicks off with blockbuster movie spoof

Video game series releases trailer lampooning film clichés

The 16th installment in the Madden football game franchise drops in August, and in anticipation EA Sports has released a trailer by San Francisco agency Heat.

Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse headline the trope-filled trailer, alongside NFL stars such as Buffalo Bills Coach Rex Ryan and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick playing Al Pacino from Scent of a Woman, naturally.

The over-the-top trailer is borrows from popculture tropes from movies such as "Taken," "Ocean's Eleven" and even "Jurassic Park."

Franco starred in last year's web film for "Madden 15" which was a music video of a similar absurd vein.
