A clever montage of A-list celebrities dropping their names give Matt Roach and David Lawrie a publicity boost

LONDON — Sick of being endorsed on LinkedIn by people they have never worked with, creative duo Matt Roach and David Lawrie, at M&C Saatchi London, found a cleverer way to promote themselves – with a compilation of celebrities apparently recounting their experiences of working with the guys.

Using their "uncreative names" to their advantage, the duo trawled YouTube for clips of stars speaking highly of famous people called Matt or Dave, such as Matt Damon, David Beckham, and Doctor Who actors Matt Smith and David Tennant.

The video includes Cameron Diaz saying, "working with Matt was great… we got to spend time together," and Victoria Beckham gushing that David "has lots of very clever ideas up his sleeve."

It ends with one genuine testimonial from former England cricket captain Freddie Flintoff, in which he deadpans, "Matt and Dave, you are the best creative team in the world."

The film was edited by the pair’s colleague Callum Loftus.

Roach and Lawrie said: "We’ve been endorsed on LinkedIn before by people who have never actually worked with us. The whole ‘endorsement’ thing has lost its value. So we thought we’d get recommendations from celebrities people actually care about. We’ve never worked with them either."
