What3Words was recognised for its service that reinvents postal addresses with three-word sequences that can be more easily remembered and shared.
It was the only UK-based company to take home an award in the category. Shortlisted UK entries include AKQA London's "house of mamba" for Nike and Grey London, "life paint" for Volvo, which has won two Grands Prix this week for Design and Promotion and Activation.
R/GA New York won two Innovation Lions for work on behalf of its accelerator companies Diagenetix and Owlet Baby Care.
There were eight awards in the category, which do not have gold, silver or bronze distinctions. The Innovations Lions were created in 2013.
Other winners included Beijing-based Baidu Online Network Technology, M&C Saatchi Sydney, Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney, Grey Group Singapore and Maruri Grey Guayaquil in Ecuador.
