In a pair of announcements, McCann Worldgroup today announced named David Leonard CEO of MacLaren McCann Canada, while DDB Canada announced that Lance Saunders would replace Leonard as DDB Canada’s new president and COO.
Leonard, who succeeds Doug Turney at the helm of Toronto-based MacLaren McCann, was with DDB Canada since 2005 and president and COO since 2010.
"David is a talented leader with a deep understanding of the industry and the Canadian marketplace," Luca Lindner, president of McCann Worldgroup, said in a statement. "He is ideally suited to lead our Canadian operations, and we look forward to his leadership in driving our clients’ businesses forward."
"In this industry, none of us ever want to stop growing, so we want to thank David for all that he has done for DDB, and wish him the very best in this next chapter of his career," said Frank Palmer, chairman and CEO of DDB Canada."
Palmer announced Saunders’ promotion from the role of executive vice president, managing director, of DDB Canada’s Vancouver office. The Omnicom agency said Saunders will move to DDB Canada’s Toronto office.
"Lance has a creative way of looking at business, which challenges our industry’s traditional models," Palmer said. "He has re-energized the culture within our Vancouver office, and this has resulted in business wins extending far beyond Western Canadian borders."
