Jessica Simpson to introduce beauty line in UK

Jessica Simpson, the US pop and reality TV star, is launching a cosmetics and beauty range in the UK in a bid to replicate the success of Jennifer Lopez as a global brand.

The 25-piece Dessert Beauty collection, marketed as the first 'kissable and tasteable' fragrance and body care range, will be available in Harvey Nichols and Pout from September. Talks are taking place to secure wider high-street distribution.

The brand's UK launch will be backed by a significant budget. It has generated sales of $20m (£10.7m) in the US since its launch in April this year.

Extensive point-of-sale promotion created by Cuba Advertising will support the launch. Plans to market the brand through press, outdoor and potentially TV - with Simpson fronting a campaign to drive Christmas sales - are being finalised.

The UK launch is being used to give the pop star a more risque image.

Dessert Beauty's distribution company, Henry's Brown Boxes, hopes to move away from the wholesome profile she has created in the US through reality TV show Newlyweds.

The collection will be priced from £17 to £35 and will include products such as Deliciously Kissable Hair and Body Mist, Sweet Soak Kissable Bath Bubbles and Kissable Belly Button Love Potion.
