International MICE exhibition Confex has kicked off today (18 Feburary) at Olympia, London.

International Confex will run for two days alongside the Event Production Show. This year’s keynote speaker is Clare Balding, replacing interior designer Kelly Hoppen who pulled out due to an '‘unexpected must-attend invitation".

Balding will share her experiences of working on some of the UK’s major sporting events, and the talent that Britain has in delivering world-class events. Businessman Gerald Ratner will also speak about the importance of brands’ values, ethics and morals.

This morning sees Jeremy Brinkworth, project director of the Rugby World Cup, speak in the Keynote Theatre, which is sponsored by Freeman.

Cvent, Rewind FX, Glisser and Pickevent will be taking part in sessions in the Technology Theatre, while representatives from George P Johnson and Big Cat Group will be hosting talks as part of the Marketing & Communications Programme.

Event’s editor-in-chief Yasmin Arrigo will join the panel for 'Meet the editors – how to provide good PR and publicity'.

It is the second year Olympia London has hosted International Confex, which moved from London Excel in 2013 following its acquisition by Mash Media. Last year’s show saw visitors numbers reach 6,803.
