Independent Venue Week is looking for brands with a commitment to music

The founder of Independent Venue Week has told Event she is looking for brands with a long-term view to supporting grass roots music at the 2016 event, following previous partnerships with Jack Daniel's and Vauxhall.

Now going into its third year, Independent Venue Week will take place on 25-31 January 2016 across 120 music spaces, an expansion from this year’s 91.

Sybil Bell, founder of the project, told Event: "We don’t want to work with people who will just slap their brand on it. What we’re looking for is a company who wants to take a long-term view of working with grassroots music.

"It’s a hard graft – this audience doesn’t like the hard sell. But the brands we’re in talks with now are coming to us with a long-term plan."

She added that the organisation has already turned down some brands that it felt would not be a good fit.

This year saw Vauxhall sponsor Independent Venue Week. The auto company provided its Vivaro van as a tour bus for bands such as Frankie and the Heartstrings during the week and beyond.

The activation is still ongoing and recently featured British rock band Don Broco.
