Ikea is encouraging French people to express their love through cooking in a funny film featuring a boy tricking his divorced parents into lavishing him with fancy meals.

The Swedish retailer bases the film on the insight that the ‘strongest way to prove your love for someone is to cook for them’.

The creative uses the ‘Cooking is Caring’ strapline and shows a boy fooling his divorced mum and dad into thinking their estranged spouse has only cooked macaroni for their son.

After being taken aback by the news, both parents go to some lengths to show their love for the boy with a slap-up meal.

Ikea’s French campaign follows on from a ‘Get Back to the Table’ ad and an ‘For Ikea, it’s all about hosting’ execution.
