Ikea celebrates 'joy of storage' with immersive exhibition

Ikea The Collection will showcase new ways of storing treasured collectors items

Swedish furniture brand Ikea is set to host The Collection, its first-ever gallery exhibition in London, from 21-23 January.

The free event aims to showcase new and exciting ways of storing collectors items, and will include collectors of everything from taxidermy and toy soldiers to retro fashion, Lego magazines and Spice Girls memorabilia.

In a bid to highlight that storing treasured items can be both functional and 'joyful', each collection will be styled by a member of Ikea's specialist storage team, and presented using the retailer's furniture products.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to speak with collectors and Ikea storage specialists, who will be on hand to offer insight into how they can best present their own possessions.

Ikea The Collection will be located at independent gallery space The Proud Archivist in London’s Dalston. Openings hours will span 9am through to 5pm over each of the three days.

Last May saw Ikea open a Breakfast In Bed Cafe pop-up, where guests were treated to a traditional Swedish breakfast in bed. View our gallery of the experience here.
