King Digital Entertainment broke the world record for the largest hammock last week (2 September), created to promote its new game.

The intereactive entertainment company created a 65-foot long hammock on a pop-up island paradise in New Jersey’s Liberty State Park to promote the launch of new mobile game, Paradise Bay.

At more than 10 times the size of a normal hammock and with enough space for 170 people, the hammock set a new Guinness World Record for the title of Largest Hammock.

From the creators of the Candy Crush franchise, Paradise Bay allows players to travel through island paradises, explore new islands and customise their own tropical world along the way.

Actress Malin Akerman was the first to enjoy spending time relaxing in the hammock, which was designed to encourage New Yorkers to take time out of their busy lives and play Paradise Bay to unwind.

Clint Tasker, the lead designer on Paradise Bay, said: "What better way to celebrate the launch of Paradise Bay than by building the world's largest hammock – the ultimate sign of relaxation – with the wonderful and talented Malin Akerman?"
