Nescafé has worked with Ogilvy One in Germany to deliver its Instant Connectons campaign, which saw the brand offer free coffee to passers-by in Berlin.

The campaign saw Nescafé install two red coffee machines on a set of pedestrian traffic lights on the opposite sides of a Berlin street.

The machines were each equipped with a display as well as cameras which could be used to video call the individual on the opposite side of the road.

They also featured a large button complete with the words ‘press together’. Upon pressing the button, the machine would reveal its hidden coffee dispenser.

Each participant received a free cup of coffee, which was poured into a red Nescafé branded take-away coffee cup for people to enjoy on-the-go.

With the idea that technology makes us more connected than ever, yet can also make us feel lonely in mind, the stunt sought to encourage strangers to interact with one another, whether it be via a wave from across the street, a high five as they crossed the road or a quick conversation via the screen.
