First campaign for Sling pokes at cable industry

Camp & King ads woo Millennials to new online entertainment service

Sling TV by Dish Network was one of the darlings of CES this year. Consumers are now getting their chance to use the service, which promises to disrupt "old TV" (AKA cable).

The ad by Camp & King stars ill-behaved children as stand-ins for the aging cable industry. The kids act like bullies, responding to customer requests with schoolyard tactics like wedgies or wet willies.

Speaking to Re/Code, Sling's chief marketing chief Glenn Eisen said the ads speak to both cord-cutters and cord-nevers (people who never paid for TV service). He says both know that paid TV can be frustrating.

Sling joins the growing family of services such as HBO Go, Showtime, and Hulu offering traditional programming online.
