Facebook's Olympics ad celebrates skateboarding in Ghana

The campaign, created by Droga5, centers on the message, "We change the game when we find each other."

Skateboarding will make its Olympic debut at the Tokyo Olympic Games, but skateboarding communities have thrived across the globe for years.

Facebook’s spot, "Skate Nation Ghana," follows skateboarder Joshua Odamtten, who founded Ghana’s first skate crew Skate Nation GH. Odamtten learned to skate in Accra, Ghana, by watching videos of skateboarder Chris Cole on Facebook. Eventually, Odamtten teamed up with Surf Ghana founder Sandy Alibo on Facebook Messenger and Instagram to spread the art of skateboarding. Alibo later founded Skate Gal Club, Ghana’s first all-girl skateboarding club.

The spot, which will air during the Olympic Games, was directed by Bafic, Elliott Power and Justyna Obasi.
