Price comparison site MoneySuperMarket is challenging a Michelin-trained chef to create a dish in 5.2 minutes at a live event tomorrow (22 October).

Guests at #PositiveEnergy will be able to contribute to the experience too, by pedaling the energy to cook the meal. They will be tasked to cycle for at least 5.2 minutes while the chef creates the dish.

The brief time has been selected to reflect the speed at which consumers can switch energy tariff through the brand’s website.

MoneySuperMarket has selected Jenius Social in north London as the event’s venue partner. Chef Pratap Chahal was selected through culinary collective Grub Club, while Electric Pedals are providing the sustainable pedal power mechanic.

The brand is staging the event in autumn to target consumers who are turning on their heating for the first time since the winter. It will also begin to pass on hints and tips about reducing energy consumption to complement the experiential activity.

Rachel Ditchburn, home services brand manager at MoneySuperMarket, told Event: "Many people never consider switching because they think it will be a time-consuming process that’s full of hassle and disruption. But we’re getting the message across that actually finding and selecting a better tariff that can potentially save you hundreds of pounds is only a five-minute job.

"Millions of people are paying way too much for their gas and electricity, and it’s a big part of our job to help remove the barriers that stop people from switching and saving. That’s what this event is all about."
