Kate Morris, senior events manager, M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, speaks to Event about delivering an activation with award-winning artist Kendrick Lamar and her dislike for Lindt chocolate.

I got into the event industry because… I love to organise and take stress away from others. Whether it be at work or at home, my mind is always planning the best way to effectively create, plan and sort things. I guess I am a bit of a control freak…but always with good intentions.
I have worked here since… 2012 and the time has flown. I am lucky that over the years at M&C Saatchi I have been exposed to numerous different opportunities which have allowed me to progress and develop my expertise.
I was attracted to this particular role because…several reasons really: the standard of work the agency produces is second to none, the client roster is amazing and the types of events we produce are pretty incredible. Equally important is that I work within a team I love.
Not many people know that… I absolutely hate Lindt chocolate – it always seems to amaze people.
The best event I’ve been involved was... delivering an activation called #GETPUMPED with Reebok Classics and Grammy award-winning artist Kendrick Lamar. A first of its kind, we shut down 5km of roads in LA with LAPD outriders inviting media to attend an exclusive run.

What they didn’t know was that they would be running through the streets of West Hollywood with Kendrick at the helm performing his brand new album on a custom built pimped out truck. It was a crazy experience with thousands of consumers joining the run along the way –a real once in a lifetime experience. It was then topped off by winning Best Disruptive Campaign at the 2015 Event Awards.
If I could do it all over again I would… make the same mistakes again. Some of my most valuable learnings have come from the odd slip-up and they have genuinely made me a better at my job and increased my understanding of the industry. That’s not to say I didn’t have a meltdown at the time they happened.
The one thing I can’t stand is... I don’t think there is anything I can’t stand but one thing I love is no day is ever the same. I work across a huge range of sport, entertainment and lifestyle brands which all come to us with exciting briefs.
Outside of work I spend my time...planning my next adventure. I love to travel and embrace new cultures and like most people wish I had more time and money to explore!

If money were no object I would… travel the world visiting all the amazing places, restaurants and hotels that I constantly drool over on Instagram.

If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be... anyone who has been brave enough to set up their own company and make a success of it.
If I ruled the event industry I would… create better working hours. The events industry can be pretty anti-social.
