The bright artwork has been designed to inspire Brits to use colour when decorating their homes. The artistry makes it look as though a crane has smashed through a brick wall of a residential building to reveal a colourful family home.
Community artist Nina Camplin was commissioned to create the mural, which measures 26 by 52 feet. Created using a trompe-l'œil technique, the artwork took 160 hours to paint.
The inside of the house was designed by interiors stylist and Valspar colour ambassador Will Taylor, also known in the blogosphere as Mr Bright Bazaar. He selected colours from the 2.2 million different shades of paint available to consumers throughout the five rooms displayed in the mural.
Jane Ryder, director of marketing at Valspar Europe, said: "As we launch in the UK and Ireland, we’ve made it our job to inspire the nation to be a little bit brighter and bolder in their colour choices and, through its clever use of colour, we hope the artwork will do just that.
"The reaction from the public so far has been amazing. So many people have stopped to take photographs and ask the artists about the project and we couldn’t be happier with the public reaction to date."
The painting will be available to view until 15 March. The activation comes in the same week that rival paint brand Dulux organised a marketing stunt in London that also encouraged Brits to use more colour.
