Event TV: Secret Cinema gathers 3,000 for Star Wars celebration

Secret Cinema brought together 3,000 of its Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back ticket-holders for an event at London's Alexandra Palace on Monday (4 May).

The May the Fourth RebelX gathering was timed to coincide with cult holiday ‘Star Wars Day’ and it was organised to raise funds for the Refugee Council. Secret Cinema also announced a second ticket release sale on the same day.

Organisers were given just one week’s notice to organise the event for ticket-holders, who were known on the day as the Rebel Alliance.

Entertainment was provided by special secret act Jamie Jones, Nightmares of Wax and DJ Yoda, who performed his intergalactic audiovisual act. Guests were also invited to gather in white outside the north London venue to spell out ‘RebelX’ on the grass, which was captured on drone video footage.

In March, Secret Cinema announced Star Wars would be its next immersive film experience.
