Drinks brand Pimm's has launched a Crazy Croquet course in the heart of Heathrow's Terminal 2 in a bid to revive the classic British game.

The course, which was developed with the help of London croquet club Croquet East, comes complete with grass and a white picket fence, while the game’s obstacles include teapot-shaped hoops and rose bushes.

Travellers passing by can also trial more modern facets to the game, including laser-guided mallets and musical hoops. Launched yesterday, (8 July), the installation is in place for one week and each introductory session lasts 15 minutes.

Pimm’s is also offering over-18s a glass of the drink after their game.

The build of the set was created by agency Helix.

Kim Gray, head of retail at Heathrow, said: "Despite being a classic summer pastime, our research revealed that croquet is in need of a revival.

"Pimm’s is one of the most popular British drinks sold at Heathrow, so we know there’s an appetite for all things quintessentially British and we really hope our fun and quirky croquet course offers passengers the chance to try something new before jetting off, as well as raising the profile of this classic sport."
