Event TV: CharlieHR creates pop-beach in London Underground Station


HR software system CharlieHR has built a pop-up beach bar in Old Street Station with a VR experience offering instant 15-minute beach holidays.

The CharlieHR pop-up, which is open from 3-7 April, offers visitors a 15-minute beach holiday experience through VR headsets. It has also partnered with Jamaican rum brand Koko Kanu to offer a free rum bar. 

The pop-up space also offers deckchairs for visitors to relax, as well as massages, morning yoga and breakfast sessions, and speaker sessions.

The pop-up has been designed to encourage people to take their annual leave, following a survey conducted by CharlieHR that revealed that 73% of Brits do not use all of their annual holiday allowance.

Rob O'Donovan, CEO of CharlieHR, said: "We want to remind people to take a break from their desks and to remember how important time off is for their health and well-being. We’re hoping to spread this message and drive businesses to use Charlie, but in a way that brings a smile to people’s faces in one of London’s busiest areas.

"We decided to transform the space in Old Street station into a beach to create a buzz around Charlie and directly engage with communities and businesses. We’re all about making it easier to look after teams, we’re not just a business tool ≠ we’re a people tool. We want to appeal to customers in a human way beyond being a piece of software."

The activation was produced in-house.

Breakfast is being supplied by Grain and Bowl, and Grounded Drinks are providing fruit water.
