According to ESSA Chair Steve Barratt the new system, which will be introduced at the venue next month, has confused the market with many organisers turning to their contractors to try and understand the benefits.
"We have already made this offer during the extensive and protracted consultation already undertaken by these ESSA members with the NEC. But, at no time did the NEC express a desire to accept the offer. However, in order to alleviate the concerns of the organisers and fellow ESSA members, we are willing to make this offer once more," said Barratt.
ESSA members Early Action Group, Joe Manby, Melville Exhibition & Event Services, Showlite and Stanco Exhibitions have offered to conduct the trials.
"This group of ESSA members is willing to offer their time, experience and expertise, completely free of charge, to witness, monitor and help establish the structure for full trials on a number of shows at the venue. The results of the trials would be made public and can then be used to provide clarity to everyone," added Barratt.
NEC managing director Kathryn James told Event: "It's great news. We have been wanting to have further trials looking into individual shows. Plug and Play is the future of electrical provision in the UK exhibition industry."
