The Daily Mail is expanding its brand into mainstream broadcasting with DailyMailTV, a daily TV series produced by Dr Phil McGraw and Jay McGraw's Stage 29 Productions.

Speaking at the 2015 Cannes Lions international Festival of Creativity, Dr Phil McGraw, a seasoned TV presenter in the US, called DailyMailTV a "game-changer" for the international entertainment business.

The series will be produced by Carla Pennington, the executive producer of Dr Phil and The Doctors. The show will be produced by Stage 29 Productions, led by president and chief executive Jay McGraw and distributed by CBS Television.

McGraw and DailyMail.com's publisher and editor-in-chief Martin Clarke were said to have hit it off straight away, with the initial 30 minute meeting turning into two and a half hours.

Presenter McGraw said: "We felt like we'd gone to high school together. We knew we were on the same wave length. We've been working on this for over a year.

"We just cannot wait to get to it. We've been talking very quietly with buyers and our distributors. People are really, really excited about this.

"This is going to be global in scope. We intend to have a studio in London, New York, LA and Sydney.

"We think that's going to be very important, particularly London, because it gives us a five hour jump on the American market if something happens in the night. It's going to be a game-changer."

McGraw, who is the host and executive producer of the leading daytime talk show in the US, went on to celebrate Clarke's "editorial genius", and said he will play a key role in helping to shape the show.

Clarke said: "This is not a bolt on, it's not a gimmick, we're not just going to be lending our name. This is going to be part of DailyMail.com, this is part of the Daily Mail, this is a complete integration of the two companies and two teams of journalists."

"There are plenty of websites out there trying to pretend they know how to do video, we thought we'd do business with somebody who knew how to do video. People who are unrivalled experts. They love us and we love them."

Executive producer Pennington said the success of the Daily Mail's website in the US assured her this was the right partnership to be involved in. DailyMail.com, part of MailOnline, is now the world's largest English-language newspaper website, attracting around 220 million monthly users.

Pennington said: "I was seriously addicted to the website and I've always said in producing the Dr Phil show that it's all about the story, and of course with the Daily Mail it's all about the story.

"I'm really excited about the incredible resources the Daily Mail has: the visuals, it will be fast-paced and eye-popping.

"I've never been more excited to have access to the exclusives, information, pictures and video that we will have for this show."
