Despite the threat of a double-dip recession, Confex portfolio director Duncan Reid has told Event that he was pleasantly suprised by the success of Confex 2010.

Speaking to Event as Confex 2010 came to a close, Reid said that he was cautiously optimistic about the industry:

"The feedback for the show has been good over the last two days and we've received a good amount of re-bookings already. Elsewhere, we've seen a healthy boost in AV, tourism and technology companies this year," he added.

He went on to discuss plans to change opening hours for the 2011 show. "Next year we'll look to change the stand closing time to 6pm, but keep the networking open until 8pm," he said.

"I also intend to move the show out of the half-term slot in order to make it more accessible to our female market, which comprises 71% of the visitors."
