Drawing inspiration from the trendy hashtag #squadgoals, Cinnamon Toast Crunch is introducing #squadbowls, conjoined bowls that allow friends to eat cereal together as a squad.
#Squadgoals is defined on Urban Dictionary as, "An inspirational term for what you’d like your group of friends to be or accomplish." Looking to share in some of the enthusiasm around the term, General Mills and agency McCann Global have produced four porcelain Squadbowls that allow groups (sorry, squads) of three, four, five and six to breakfast together.
This is not the brand’s first foray into trends for the Instagram generation. Last year, McCann developed a selfie spoon for Cinnamon Toast Crunch, a spoon attached to the end of a selfie stick that allows users to keep eating even as they take selfies. Fans of the selfie spoon took to Instagram to show off their selfies over their bowls of the little cinnamon squares.
Compared to the selfie spoon, which was free with shipping and handling, the squadbowls come at a steep price. Although the first 10 orders a day are 99 cents, the price soars to $59.99, plus shipping, for a bowl made for three people — and only goes up from there. A six-person squadbowl is $119.99.
If you can’t afford a bowl, or simply can’t get the squad together for breakfast, you can check out Squad Bowls at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards this Sunday; they are slated to help present the Movie of the Year award.
