Chris Evans's motoring festival Carfest has relocated its northern edition to a historic racetrack in Cheshire.

Carfest North will take place at Oulton Park Race Circuit from 2-4 August, moving from Cholmondeley Castle just 12 miles away.

Its sister event Carfest South will keep Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire as its venue, and will be held from 23-25 August.

Brand Events runs Carfest, which was conceived by BBC Radio Two presenter Evans as his ‘perfect’ festival. Last year’s launch events both sold out in under 40 minutes.

As in 2012, both Carfests will feature car displays, live music, food and family activities to raise money for charity BBC Children in Need.

Outlon Park is a former stately home and offers a racetrack to the event for the first time. Jonathan Palmer, chief executive of Motorsport Vision which owns Oulton Park, said: "The event allows us to show off our greatest features – a spectacular track and stunning scenery. We are certain that Carfest North will be even better than last year and help to raise even more money for BBC Children in Need."

Carfest South will have a hill climb course at Laverstoke Park Farm and three evenings of live music.

Evans said: "I can’t wait to spend the three days of Carfest North in the surroundings of one of the most respected race circuits in Europe, with such a depth of historical magic. Then two weeks later at Laverstoke Park Farm – what a summer!"

Tickets for both events go on sale tomorrow morning (17 January) at 8 am.
