Cannes Lions 2019: All the UK winners

Welcome to Campaign's rolling round-up of this year's UK winners at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.


Film Lions

UK agencies brought home three gold Lions in one of the most anticipated categories of the awards. Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO led the charge with two gongs for Bodyform’s "Viva la vulva". Sister Omnicom shop Adam & Eve/DDB won one gold for last year’s Christmas campaign for John Lewis "The boy and the piano".


There was one award for the UK: Bodyform’s "Viva la vulva" by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.

Sustainable Development Goals

FCB Inferno won silver for Huawei "StorySign" and R/GA London picked up bronze for "Mimica".

Glass - The Lion For Change

Bodyform’s "Viva la vulva" by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO won gold and Skoda "Tour des femmes" by Fallon London won silver.


Creative Effectiveness

The UK won four awards, with one gold and one bronze for McCann London’s Xbox Design Lab, a silver for Campaign Against Living Miserably "Project 84" by Adam & Eve/DDB and one bronze for "Beautiful cars with amazing brains" by Bartle Bogle Hegarty London and We Are Social.

Brand Experience & Activation

FCB Inferno and Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO picked up a gold Lion each for Huawei and Guinness respectively.

Creative eCommerce

FCB Inferno took the UK’s only gong for The Big Issue "Pay it forward".


Once again, FCB Inferno won a gold and a silver for The Big Issue "Pay it forward", as well as a gold and a bronze for Huawei "StorySign".

Radio & Audio

MRM McCann Milton Keynes took home the UK’s only silver in this category for its Vauxhall Astra campaign. The agency won the accolade across three executions: "Cinderella", "Jack & The Beanstalk" and "Ugly duckling".


R/GA London won bronze for "Mimica".



McCann London won a bronze Lion for its suicide-prevention campaign for Vice, while MRM McCann London won a bronze for its work for the Miscarriage Association.

Social & Influencer

There were three awards for the UK: two silvers and one bronze. Mother took home a silver for its Greenpeace campaign "Rang-tan".


Grey London took home a gold and a silver for the United Nations "The people’s seat".

Creative Strategy

There were five awards for the UK, with Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO winning a gold and a silver for Libresse/Bodyform "Viva la vulva". Adam & Eve/DDB’s "Project 84" for Campaign Against Living Miserably won bronze.


There was a silver for Saatchi & Saatchi London’s Visa "All they want for Christmas is you" and a bronze for McCann London’s suicide-prevention campaign for Vice.


Film Craft

The UK was awarded for 32 pieces of work, with Droga5 London leading the category. The agency's Amazon Prime Video campaign, which included four ads about people's lives being transformed after TV binges, won two silver and two bronze Lions.

Digital Craft

FCB Inferno’s "StorySign" for Huawei was the only UK winner, taking one gold.

Industry Craft

There were no UK winners.


Adam & Eve/DDB’s most recent John Lewis Christmas campaign, starring Sir Elton John, won two silvers.

Entertainment Lions for Music

Adam & Eve/DDB won bronze for "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Entertainment Lions for Sport

Wunderman Thompson London won a gold for the National Centre for Domestic Violence’s "The not so beautiful game", which highlighted the spike in domestic violence during the World Cup and other football matches.



Droga5 London won a silver for Coal Drops Yard work, while BBC Creative and Superunion also won a silver for the BBC Two rebrand. There was one bronze for FCB Inferno’s StorySign work for Huawei and one for McCann London.

Health & Wellness

Gold Lions went to Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and FCB Inferno for "Viva la vulva" and "StorySign" respectively. AMV also picked up a silver for the same work.

McCann London won a bronze for "Toxic Toby" for BreezoMeter, the British Lung Foundation and the World Health Organization. McCann Bristol took a bronze for its domestic-abuse campaign for Refuge across three executions.


Adam & Eve/DDB won silver for its Marmite "Lovers, don’t spread the hate" campaign, which had three executions in the entry. Karmarama took home bronze for its British Army and Capita recruitment campaign, comprising four executions.


The jury awarded Havas Lynx a silver for an HIV awareness campaign for ViiV Healthcare and Windsor-based Langland a bronze for "Smartread" for Bayer.

Print & Publishing

Adam & Eve’s Marmite "Lovers, don’t spread the hate" campaign won gold across three executions and Mother’s "AFC-ZFC" for KFC won a silver lion.
